Let’s talk fertilisers…

What we use at the farm and why

One of the key steps in planting is fertiliser, and with the season now upon us we need a LOT of it. We mix our own fertiliser on the farm using a combination of Urea, AMS (Ammonium Sulfate), LAN (Lime Ammonium Nitrate), MAP (Monoammonium Phosphate) and others.

Urea is water-soluble and easily absorbed by plants. Being high in nitrogen makes it an excellent choice for promoting rapid vegetative growth.

AMS being nitrogen and sulphur based is suitable for crops with high sulphur requirement such as beans.

LAN contains calcium and magnesium and is less acidifying to the soil than other forms of nitrogen.

MAP supports root development, flowering, and fruiting.
