Potato Harvest on the Farm
The potatoes we planted in September are ready
The beginnings of the humble potato making its way to your plate.
The potatoes you saw we planted in September (blog post here: https://www.sesisonke.co.za/potatoplantingseasonhasbegun) are now ready for harvest. It is quite a labor-intensive process and requires many of our staff. The first step involves using our digger attachment on the back of tractors to lift the potatoes, but from there onward, it becomes a hands-on process. Workers bag the potatoes by hand into small sacks, and from there, they are transferred into larger bags and loaded onto the backs of trucks to be sent to the processing plant.
