Sesisonke Farming’s produce is found in the retail space under the brands Jabu and Mnandi. Jabu is our premium range of potatoes, maize and beans, while Mnandi is our value brand, competitively priced to be affordable while still delivering as much nutrition to the consumer.
The Jabu brand was born out of Sesisonke Farming and the name ‘Jabu’ was chosen for several reasons. The word Jabulani means ‘Rejoice’ in the isiZulu language, and Jabula is to ‘be happy’. These words encapsulate Sesisonke’s vision. We are a proudly South African company dedicated to making a positive contribution to the world around us and more specifically, to the communities we serve on a daily basis.

JABU POTATOES
Jabu potatoes are grown using modern Sustainable Agricultural practices that comply with GAP (Good Agricultural Practices). They are renowned for their quality because the soils used to grow them undergo continual mineral and biological testing and balancing. This ensures nutritional potatoes that have a great shelf life.

JABU APPLES
Jabu apples include the popular red apple varieties of Royal Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady and Top Red. The fruit is grown on a small farm called Parva, bordering the Wilge River and adjacent to the Sesisonke crop farms. Attention to detail is paramount and many hours go into caring for our trees to achieve optimum quality for various markets, including top-end local retailers, regional chain stores and the European export market. Apples are harvested and sold from January through to May in an assortment of pack formats to meet customer requirements.

JABU MAIZE
Our white and yellow maize is grown on dry land and under irrigation. It is primarily used for animal feeds and is bagged in pack formats ranging from 5kg to 50kgs, or in bulk format, for onward sale to local livestock farmers. All our soils are balanced and deficiencies addressed before the seed is set. We deliver locally and consistently deliver a high quality and graded product to our customers.

JABU BEANS
Jabu beans are South African bred, grown, picked and packed. The deep red speckled bean brings flavour and colour to any traditional meal and cooks better than the imported beans on the market. This is because they take a relatively short time to cook and carry a superior taste.
