The Sesisonke Community

Without people the farm would not be where it is. The community is at the heart of the success to Sesisonke. As the old saying goes, “If you look after people they will look after you.” In the very beginning we realised that our staff need to happy, feel safe, acknowledged, and be taken care of. In keeping with that theme we built a ‘Sesisonke Village’ roughly 15 minutes from the farm whereby some of our long time membered staff and their families live permanently. The establishment currently has 14 homes built, with the plans to add another 3 homes later this year. Every morning we send out buses to the village to collect the staff, bring them to the farm, and return them at the end of the working day. On the farm itself we have a full time creche where children can learn during the day, play, and be taken care of while their parents work. Once a month we have a traveling clinic with health care staff that comes to the farm to see our workers. Going into flu season now and with covid this is really appreciated by our staff.
